Charters Towers 29th – 30th June 2019
Charters Towers Tennis Club are hosting a Teams Tennis Event during the 2019 Glencore Great Western Games.
Encouraging club players to participate in a great opportunity to have a fun weekend with friends.
Open, Social and 50 years and over divisions.
Capped at 16 teams with designated match times.
The first 2 rounds Saturday and Sunday's 2 rounds will be played at Club courts, All Souls' St Gabriel's School, Columba Catholic College and Charters Towers State High School.
All venues are within 2.5km of the Club Courts
Saturday evening, all teams will be playing under our great lights at the Club, allowing great social interaction while partaking in food catered for by the Club.
50 and over may be sharing a court Saturday night between 2 matches because 4 sets of doubles played each match as compared with 4 singles and 2 doubles in Open and A Grade. Depends on how many teams nominate in each division.

Minimum 4 players per team ($200 per team) Teams can have more than 4 players with each additional player playing $10 to Western Games. I.E. Teamwith 4 players pays $200, team with 6 players $220.

Teams should be players of similar ability where possible: • Teams can be a mixture of Ladies and Men • Teams may consist of players from different clubs and locations (get your friends together) • 4 players per team (minimum). Teams can have more players and roster them for matches. Teams can nominate in one of 3 divisions: Open, Social and 50 & Over The tournament is looking to provide an opportunity for a great social tennis event encouraging tennis players who don’t play much in the line or any tournaments to become involved as well as tournament players. Round Robin draws will be utilised. 4 venues will be utilised for the tournament (all within 2km of town courts) Format: Open and A grade
• Each match consists of 2 doubles and 4 singles • Singles 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3v 3, 4v4 • Doubles 1 & 2 v 1 & 2, 3 & 4 v 3 & 4 • Matches o Singles First to 9 tiebreaker 8 all. o Doubles - Best of 8 games (no tiebreaker) Score will add up to 8. • Short deuce – receiver decides which side point is to be played for the game point format or in the case of mixed Man to Man or Lady to Lady • (Duece, advantage, deuce then game point)] DOUBLES MATCHES TO BE PLAYED FIRST Format: 50 & over • Each match consists of 4 doubles • Doubles 1 & 2 v 1 & 2, 3 & 4 v 3 & 4, 1 & 3 v 1 & 3, 2 & 4 v 2 & 4 • Matches o Doubles - Best of 8 games (no tiebreaker) Score will add up to 8. • Short deuce – receiver decides which side point is to be played for the game point format or in the case of mixed Man to Man or Lady to Lady • (Duece, advantage, deuce then game point)] Points awarded to decide positions: • 6 points for winning match plus 1 point per game won • 2 points for loss of match plus 1 point for each game won • 3 points draw plus 1 point per game won • Team with highest points in each division is winner Matches must be completed in the time frame scheduled. If a match is incomplete the score as it stands at end of scheduled time is the score which will be used for positioning. Nominations restricted to 16 teams.

Schedule Saturday 8.30am arrival, briefing and allocation of courts 9am match 1 12pm lunch (Town Courts) 1pm match 2 4pm to 9pm match 3 6.30pm evening meal Sunday 7.00am Breakfast (Bacon & egg rolls) 7.30am match 4 10.30am match 5 1.30pm lunch (Town Courts) 2pm Presentation 2.15pm Departure Canteen serving day food and evening meal (Saturday) and breakfast (Sunday).
